Goodyear Wrangler SR-A Tire Review

All-season tires Goodyear Wrangler SR-A are designed for operation on all-wheel-drive crossovers and off-road vehicles, which move not only on paved roads but also on dirt roads, roads with a gravel surface, as well as on stony off-road.
The tires are designed for use all year round and therefore offer improved traction on slippery roads caused by water and snow.

Pros

  1. Excellent performance on dry asphalt, gravel, and mud.
  2. Low noise.
  3. Good steering.

Cons

  1. Performance on wet and slippery roads could be better.

Overview

Goodyear Wrangler SR-A tires are designed for 4×4 off-road vehicles. This model guarantees excellent traction properties and performance both in the city and on country roads. Radial all-season tire due to its aggressive pattern on the tread and increased support area provides excellent traction with the road. This property increases the off-road capability of your vehicle, and allows you to control your car at high speed when driving on highways.
The non-directional symmetrical tread pattern provides high traction characteristics on summer, winter and unpaved roads. The central rib is made of rectangular blocks with a wavy surface to improve dynamic performance in difficult road conditions and increase directional stability when driving through rough terrain. Side stiffeners are made of beveled rectangular blocks. Their sharp edges prevent the occurrence of axial drifts of the car.
The side of the shoulder blocks contains special slots, which, due to the unusualness of this solution, received their own name – TredLock. The essence of the technology lies in the formation of additional edges with significant lateral accelerations. In tight corners, the tire grips the road better while maintaining slip resistance.
Tires are available in P and LT sizes as well as D and E load ranges. You will find available 15-20 “sizes with up to 50,000 miles warranty.
Prices for the Wrangler SR-A start at $ 103 and up.

Service indicators

Tires have standard tread wear indicators in the form of rubber rods in the tread grooves, and the minimum allowable tread depth is 2/32 inches. When the indicators are in line with the tread, the tire should be replaced as performance degrades with this wear and you risk your safety.

Driving on dry, wet, and snowy roads

The drainage system of the Goodyear Wrangler SR-A tire includes four deep longitudinal channels and a frequent network of cross grooves, diverting water, mud, melted snow, and water-ice mixture outside the contact area. An effective drainage system reliably prevents aquaplaning of the vehicle on wet roads and its slippage on soaked dirt or winter roads.
Shoulder tread zones improve the precision of speed maneuvering, the responsiveness of the car to steering wheel movements, and increase the feeling of acoustic comfort during driving.
The tread pattern is saturated with drainage grooves. They are located both longitudinally and transversely. This minimizes the risk of aquaplaning at almost any speed, which provides a more reliable wet grip. The use of wear-resistant and frost-resistant additives in the rubber mixture has increased the tire’s resistance to wear and allowed it to maintain its elasticity at subzero temperatures.
The tire’s performance on snow and icy surfaces is great thanks to a large extent to the tread’s increased content of traction edges. Most of them are formed not by blocks, but by sipes cut into them. Their zigzag shape further increases traction and, by limiting block movement, improves handling.

Drivers’ opinions

Drivers noted that the tires ride excellently on any ground or asphalt, have excellent handling even in heavy rain, but in winter drivers are not very happy with their performance. Most buyers say that they will continue to buy only tires from this manufacturer due to their good performance and affordable price.
