Hankook Optimo H724 Tire Review

The Hankook Optimo H724 all-season performance tire replaces the popular H727 and is also adapted for year-round use in most modern urban passenger cars. One of the key features of the model is the optimal ratio of cost and quality, controllability, and stability of driving performance, regardless of weather and road conditions.
The tread pattern is created according to the classic pattern and contains five longitudinal ribs. Three longitudinal ribs are located in the central part. This structure provides the tire with excellent stability, especially when making sharp maneuvers. In addition, the longitudinal rib, located in the very center of the tread, is a one-piece element with a very high degree of rigidity. Combined with its generous dimensions, this significantly reduced the tire’s steering response times rolling resistance, which in turn resulted in improved fuel economy. Rounded shoulders improve dry traction and cornering performance.

Prices for the H724 range from $ 67 and up. With your purchase, you get a 5-year or 70,000-mile tread warranty.

Pros

  1. Good grip regardless of the weather.
  2. Responsive steering.
  3. Comfort.
  4. Good value for money.

Cons

1. Insufficient grip for sporty driving.

General opinion

Thanks to computer simulation of the pattern, the tires have an optimized arrangement of working elements, which are responsible for stable ride quality and quick response.
A wide central rib, divided into beveled blocks, together with other stiffeners, forms great handling and stability in straight-line driving on slippery and wet roads.
For better grip and braking on slippery and snowy surfaces, the tread of the Hankook Optimo H724 tire was endowed with elliptical sipes, which form additional grip edges, making the car secure even on difficult road sections.

The lamellas work in conjunction with a drainage system consisting of four longitudinal and multiple transverse channels, responsible for efficient water removal and better grip on wet roads.
Sufficiently wide annular drainage channels of all-season rubber Hankook Optimo H724 effectively remove not only water but also water-ice mass and slush, contributing to the rapid self-cleaning of the tread to reduce the risk of slippage. Coupled with the reduced rolling resistance provided by the center rib of the tire, this results in significant fuel savings. The economic benefit of purchasing a H724 tire set is complemented by a high level of durability, mileage, and service life.

Performance on dry, wet, and snowy roads

In order to provide a reliable grip on snowy surfaces, South Korean tire engineers have equipped the tread pattern with a large number of elliptical sipes. These elements have a dual purpose.
First, when driving on a wet road, they, like ordinary car wipers, remove moisture from the surface, thereby improving grip. Secondly, on a snow-covered surface, they form additional grip edges, which allows you to move more confidently on such a slippery surface.

Another feature of this model is the design of the drainage system. The longitudinal drainage grooves inherent in most passenger tires are complemented by a large number of lateral channels, each of which has a slightly curved shape. This configuration minimizes the risk of any turbulence in the flow of water discharged from the contact patch. Due to this, the speed of its passage through these channels is significantly increased. In addition, the large dimensions of the longitudinal grooves make it easy to cope not only with water but also with snow slurry, due to which a high resistance to slashplenning is achieved.
Driving in winter depends on the prevailing road and weather conditions. Light snow or icing will not be a problem for the tires. But if there is more snow, the performance of the tires may deteriorate. The Optimo H724 guarantees an extended service life, which allows motorists to make environmental choices.

Customer Reviews

Drivers note that this is an inexpensive, high-quality rubber. It has pleasant behavior on any type of road surface. According to drivers’ reviews, the car runs well even through puddles. Relatively quiet, but at high speed, you can hear a rumble, but it is tolerable. Drivers have no complaints about handling and braking.
