This rubber is worth looking at for crossover owners. The manufacturer has managed to achieve a decent balance between conflicting qualities: on the one hand, such rubber must be tough in order to withstand the weight of the car and resist damage from road “surprises”, on the other hand, to have sufficient softness.
But after moving off the asphalt, it is worth remembering about the underdeveloped tread pattern in the shoulder area: the wheels stubbornly strive to move into a rut, from which it is very difficult to get out.
On the other hand, for their low price, tires really work as all-season tires, without turning the car into a “cow on ice” with the first frosts and rather effectively removing water. It is better not to meddle in the mud on it – but the manufacturer directly points out its “asphalt” nature, so you won’t find fault with it.
Pros
- Excellent performance on dry and wet roads.
- Comfort.
- Treadlife
Cons
- Performance on snow and ice.
General opinion
The Cooper Discoverer SRX can be bought by crossover and SUV drivers as the tires provide good grip and handling all year round.
A large amount of silicon dioxide was used in the production of the tread, which improves the performance of the tire on any surface, and these characteristics are improved by three-dimensional sipes throughout the tire surface.
The company offers a 65,000-mile tread warranty and sells tires in sizes ranging from 16 to 22 inches.
What are the service indicators?
This tire model has service indicators that indicate when the tires need to be replaced.
Severe tire wear affects tire performance. There is an increased risk of aquaplaning and less wet grip on snow, so it is recommended to replace the tire before the tread wears off to the same level as the wear indicators, i.e. 2/32 inches.
Performance on wet, dry, and snowy roads
Good handling and braking performance on dry surfaces. Improved traction reduces wear and therefore improves fuel efficiency. Unfortunately, they cannot boast of strength qualities. With hard use, the tread will lose depth very noticeably.
One of the biggest problems with this type of tire is its behavior on wet surfaces. Whether it is a cornering or braking test, the results differ significantly from other models with the same price.
Due to the same tread, snow (both dry and wet) will also be a problem, this is especially noticeable on a snow “mess” when the clogging of grooves with snow increases the risk of aquaplaning several times. Of course, there is already a noticeable drop in grip on ice, but this is normal for non-studded tires. In temperate climates, rubber continues to be an excellent all-season rubber option.
Should you buy it?
These tires are good value for money. Manufacturers used their own technologies, thanks to which the offered characteristics will be optimal for any season. The tires have a special tread pattern in which the combination of open shoulders prevents aquaplaning. In addition, this model reduces fuel consumption and is sufficient for long service life.
Tire prices start at $ 108 and up.
Driver reviews
There is no unequivocal opinion about these tires. They drive well on the highway, but there is a little uncertainty when driving on wet roads. Tires have a lot of negative reviews about driving in the snow, or rather the lack of it.
