Diplomat is a Polish brand produced by ‘Debica’ company. The company itself is a subsidiary of Goodyear, and that is a huge perk, because Diplomat tires often use tread patterns and other technologies provided by Goodyear directly. It means that Diplomat is a reasonable combination of low cost and high technology.
The average cost of Diplomat tires is about $40, and it can go down to as low as $35 or $30, owing to the regional prices and low cost of production. You can buy them from many Goodyear stores across Europe, and many will be basically the cheaper versions of Goodyear tires (at least tread-wise).
In terms of quality, they aren’t much worse. Traction could be much worse – these tries perform rather well in all usual weather conditions (clear, rainy, snowy, etc), and even go over mud if you need them. They don’t withstand the extreme conditions quite as good, but what do you expect from cheap Polish treads?
They are actually quite good off-road. After all, there aren’t many good roads in Eastern Europe, and you’ll want to make sure they can get you from point A to point B, no matter what lies in-between. The pattern is not the only thing to thank for it, they are also generally sturdy.
In addition to that, the soft sidewalls make the ride pretty comfortable. Given you don’t want to feel every single bump on the road – this flexibility will come in handy. And it doesn’t even worsen the general endurance and longevity of these tires, thanks in part to the Goodyear technology.
The quietness of the ride also contributes to the comfort of driving. Diplomat tires are pretty quiet, and they only produce any sort of sound when they start to struggle in rough terrain. On the pristine roads, you won’t hear much from them.
Remember: all of it is pretty relative. The grip could be even better, although it’s limited by the cheapness of these treads. Diplomats are pretty comfortable, but if you forget their low cost you will start noticing small problems here and there.
For their price, they are awesome. In comparison to other brand (with no regard to price), they are decent.
